The Story
Mel had always felt a deep calling to work with horses. Growing up, in Anderson, SC, she started her riding journey, as a kid. Mel quickly found that the barn is her 'happy place'. As an adult, she moved to Las Vegas with her husband Ty, and found her heart horse, Shaq and his best friend Cowboy.
They eventually moved back home to Anderson, and life took on new meaning when her son was diagnosed with autism. Navigating his world, she discovered the challenges, the beauty, and the resilience within him and his diagnosis. Through watching him work with his own horse, Honey, Mel has watched his expand his voice, strengthen his confidence, and process his emotions on a deeper level.
Inspired, Mel began researching Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy and is seeking out certifications, specialized training and psychology professionals to join her. Mel has invested heavily to ensure that her property can become a welcoming barn, where her clients can safely experience equine facilitated intervention.
